BOARD OF DIRECTORS
President & Executive Director
I have never been more passionate about one of my ideas as I am about this one. It took me 50 years to come to the realization that I love working with and for older adults. This project marries my multi-faceted business background with my love for the arts and I am having a brilliant time learning about the intricacies of film festivals and not for profits. I hope one and all find a film or talk that they enjoy immensely and walk away having had a fantastic time.
I'm proud to be working with Mitzi on THIRD ACTion Film Festival. I was so excited when she asked me to get involved that I answered yes before she had a chance to get the question out. While Mitzi brings artistic and creative flair to THIRD ACTion, my background as a Controller in the oil and gas industry means that money received by the Festival will be spent wisely and transparently. I know that doesn't sound exciting, but I want all our supporters and festival-goers to know that their contributions will be handled with respect and care. You watch the films, I'll watch the money.
I am excited to join this up and coming festival where I can put my marketing and revenue growth expertise to use. I currently lead the content marketing unit at Tourism Calgary including all activities related to storytelling through the organization’s web-based channels. My extensive arts background and an MBA in Arts & Media Administration has already been put to use by the board. I am also passionate about volunteering and am looking forward to sharing my knowledge about not-for-profits with the rest of the team.
I am very excited to be a part of THIRD ACTion Film Festival and the vision Mitzi has for the organization. I am a chartered global management accountant with many years of experience across various finance functions in the oil and gas industry and the financial services industry. My personal interest outside of finance and investments are centred around the older generation and young adults and I am keen to contribute and add value to the board in any way that I can.
My love of film began as a young child and has endured over time as I transition into my third act. The opportunity to share stories/information that help others maneuver the challenges of aging is a passion for me. Over the course of my career, I have been involved in many different aspects of teaching, media design and production as well as, working in the non-profit environmental sector. I hope to bring this expertise to my role as a board member for THIRD ACTion Film Festival.
I am delighted to be a part of THIRD ACTion Film Festival. What drew me to THIRD ACTion Film Festival is their focus to celebrate aging and the accomplishments of older adults to help speed along an age-positive culture shift and empower everyone to envision their best third act. This focus, my passion, and belief that life is a revolving door; as one door closes another opens at every stage and age, there is no end, is why I support this organization. I am also passionate about volunteering and excited to put my knowledge, administrative and board experience to work.
