The Senior Film Showcase honors the creativity, wisdom, and storytelling power of Canadian filmmakers over 60, proving that compelling stories transcend age.
The Senior Film Showcase aims to give voice to Canadian Senior filmmakers.
In addition to our THIRD ACTion Film Festival 2025, taking place on June 6-8, our team is launching our very first Canadian Seniors Film Showcase as part of this year's festival. It's a special contest to highlight the creativity and excellence of Canadian Filmmakers over the age of sixty.
A Special Selection of Canadian Short Films
The Seniors Film Showcase will focus on short pieces, any genre, with a maximum of 15 minutes in length, that were completed in the last three years. Our jury of industry professionals will select 7 shorts to screen on June 6 at TAFF 2025, happening at The Confluence in Calgary and online across Canada. It's a great opportunity to have your work displayed and recognized by our audience in Calgary and across the country.
Get Recognition by the Industry and Audience
Speaking of recognition, our festival will also have a special and unique award for the film chosen by the panel of industry professionals. The Canadian Senior Showcase Award of Distinction will be awarded at the conclusion of the screening and receive a cash prize of $1500!
This award will be based on the standards of excellence in all craft categories of filmmaking as well as how it changes the dialogue on aging. We will also give the Audience Favourite Award once the audience votes are tallied in, and the winner will garner a laurel and bragging rights!
The winning filmmakers will be invited to speak when the winner is announced at the festival screening - either in person or online. Therefore all shortlisted filmmakers or their representatives are required to be in attendance on June 6.
